Vitali Kopatchev

Russian artist Vitali Kopatchev graduated from Donetsk State Art School, in 1988 - the art department of the Moscow Technological Institute. Member of the Moscow Union of Artists, the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. He worked as an artist in the Institute of the Art Industry. In 1989, he was accepted to the post of research assistant in the Exhibition Hall of the Kievsky District of Moscow ("Gallery A3" since 1992), where from July 1989 to July 2017 he worked as a director.

Nominee of the Kandinsky Prize (2007). “Khlebnikov of painting” called Kopatchov writer Yuri Kuvaldin.

“Vitali Kopatchev formulated his visual language quite early - almost immediately after his professional appearance “in public”. He managed to make it completely recognizable, his imaginative system has been maintained and developed for almost thirty years ... In the “Inviolability” project, which became a kind of manifesto, he finally formulated his main priorities in art, where the concept of “independence" is basic. Actually, this is the key that opens Kopatchov's spaces: for understanding of his work It is important to take into account that everything you need to feel and read them is inside them, their independence is not in impermeability, but in integrity, fullness. For their perception, no additional external associations or a verbal “guide to viewing” is required, they need to be seen as they are, they are absolutely open for that ." - Andrey Volkov
